Accepting Credit Card Payments on Your Site
To secure your customer’s credit card data, you will need an SSL Certificate installed on your web host.
In order to process the transactions, you will need both a Gateway and a Merchant Account. Merchant Accounts vary from bank to bank, but the de-facto gold standard in Gateways is Authorize.net.

If you’re on a budget, both PayPal and Google Checkout allow you to sell products online with no up-front costs or monthly fees. Your customer will leave your site to complete the checkout process, and both services charge a fixed % of the purchase price.
